| Paul Hodgson who made his debut for England last season and went on to play a key role in the England Saxons team that retained the Churchill Cup in June, will captain the Exiles' team in Saturday's Middlesex Sevens tournament at Twickenham. |
Irish has announced a ten man squad that combines plenty of Guinness Premiership and international experience with up and coming Academy players. Joining Hodgson are fellow Churchill Cup winner, Steffon Armitage and two of the debutantes on England's summer tour to New Zealand, David Paice and Topsy Ojo. Another summer tourist with his country, Argentine winger Tomas De Vedia, is also included.
"Twickenham is a great stage on which to give some of our emerging talent a chance to perform," said Barrie-Jon Mather, coach of the London Irish sevens squad. "We've progressed well in the early stages of the tournament in recent seasons and are hoping to build on that this time round."
London Irish squad: Paul Hodgson (Captain), Steffon Armitage, James Clarke, Tomas De Vedia, Charlie Gower, Topsy Ojo, David Paice, Tom Parker, Jamie Stevenson, Adam Thompstone.
